Modesto Symphony Orchestra to Perform U.S. Premiere of Klebanov’s Symphony No. 1

The Modesto Symphony Orchestra (MSO), led by Music Director Nicholas Hersh, will perform Beethoven & Klebanov this November 14 & 15, 2025 at 7:30 pm at the Gallo Center for the Arts. The program will open with Simone Porter performing Beethoven’s Violin Concerto. Then the MSO will perform the United States premiere of Dmitri Klebanov’s Symphony No. 1 “In Memoriam Babi Yar”. The program will conclude with John Williams’ A Prayer for Peace.

Klebanov, a Ukrainian composer, wrote his First Symphony in memory of the 1941 massacre of over 30,000 Jewish civilians by occupying German forces at Babi Yar. The performance received a glowing response, but the Soviet government ultimately deemed the piece “anti-Soviet”, Klebanov’s music was rarely heard again and his first symphony was never performed outside of Ukraine. Hersh has been instrumental in rediscovering Klebanov’s First Symphony and bringing it to the United States. Hersh initially learned about the piece in early 2023 and began transcribing and editing the piece from scans of the original transcripts. Since then, Hersh has been in contact with Klebanov’s granddaughter and had the privilege of showing her early drafts of the score and hearing stories of her grandfather.

The rediscovery of Klebanov’s music underscores the enduring power of art to preserve memory and give voice to those who have suffered. Across generations and cultures, music and art have served as a testament to loss, resilience, and humanity in the face of violence and suppression—reminding us that stories carried through art resonate far beyond the moment in which they were created.

“The more I worked on the symphony, the more I came to understand how remarkable and affecting this music is. Soaring melodies and powerful orchestration combine with a bold harmonic palette to create a symphonic experience that is truly epic in its scope. Its censorship was shameful, and now more than ever it deserves its place in the concert hall—it is an honor to introduce a new generation of listeners to Dmitri Klebanov,” says Music Director Nicholas Hersh.

“I am beyond grateful to my friend and colleague Simone Porter for joining us for this important program, which considers the aftermath of war and the virtue of peace,” Hersh continues. “From the militaristic opening drumbeats of Beethoven's beloved Violin Concerto, to the outbursts of grief and rage in Klebanov's memorial to the victims of inhuman violence, and finally to the aching refrains of John Williams' exhortation for peace between peoples, these concerts promise to be a provocative and moving meditation on conflicts past and present.”

Simone Porter will be performing Beethoven’s Violin Concerto replacing originally scheduled guest violinist Amaryn Olmeda who was to perform Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 5. This will be Ms. Porter’s second performance with the Modesto Symphony following her 2023 performance of Barber’s Violin Concerto.

Steve Trevino: Good Life Tour

Steve Trevino: Good Life Tour

Comedian Steve Treviño is “America’s Favorite Husband.” He can “speak wife fluently,” he never calls “the guys” for help on a home project, and he knows better than to “make his own decisions,” since decision-making is a privilege reserved solely for his wife, Renae.

His relatable approach affirms his status as one of the country’s fastest-rising comics, viewed over 223 million times, selling out shows coast-to-coast, amassing over 2 million total social media followers, and headlining specials for Amazon, NETFLIX, Showtime, and more.

He started cutting his teeth in Dallas, Texas, working as a door guy at the Improv and earning himself a spot to open the iconic 2001 Three Amigos Comedy Tour. He quickly earned his stripes and an audience on the comedy club circuit, and he began headlining on his own by the age of 25. He delivered side-splitting performances on The Late Late Show and Comics Unleashed, and produced and wrote for international GRAMMY® Award-winning superstar Pitbull’s La Esquina.

His first Showtime special, Grandpa Joe’s Son, staked out a spot in the Nielsen Top 20. He funded, produced, and shot his 2014 runaway NETFLIX hit Relatable. To promote the special, he uploaded a clip titled “When Your Wife Comes Home From Shopping.” It exploded, generating 56 million views on Facebook alone and paving the way for heavily shared clips such as “When YouAsk Your Wife If She Wants McDonald’s” (21 million views) and “When Going to Vegas With Your Wife Goes Wrong” (4 million views). Co-produced by Nacelle, the follow-up special, Steve Trevino ’Til Death, arrived in 2018. Steve maintained his momentum by broadening his social media presence through fans redoing bits of his comedy specials and posting them to TikTok. In less than two years, that grassroots effort helped him build a worldwide fanbase on the platform from the ground up, amassing 4.8 million likes and over 50 million views on the platform, while also changing up his entire social media game.

In 2020, he and his wife, Renae, unveiled a joint weekly podcast entitled “Steve Treviño and Captain Evil,” that has generated over 1.5 million views/streams and is now in Season 3. He also filmed his fourth self-produced comedy special, My Life in Quarantine, which was picked up by Amazon Prime. The once-in-a-lifetime pandemic special was shot in front of a masked, socially distant crowd and focused on the ups and downs of getting through quarantine.

He regularly raises money for Helicopters for Heroes, an organization benefiting veterans, for whom he helped raise over $1.5 million in the past two years.

Steve’s self produced fifth special filmed in Waco, Texas, entitled I Speak Wife, independently released on Friday, October 21, for free exclusively to his global audience on YouTube.

LED ZEPAGAIN: A Tribute to Led Zeppelin

LED ZEPAGAIN: A Tribute to Led Zeppelin

Jimmy Page Says, “It’s as close as you’ll ever get to the real deal”

Celebrating 33 years, Sony recording artists, Led Zepagain is the longest-standing tribute to “the world’s greatest band”, replicating the ultimate Led Zeppelin experience. From the high-energy electric classics to the beautiful acoustic works, you will be mesmerized as LED ZEPAGAIN resurrects Page’s soaring guitar leads, Jones’ brilliant keyboard passages, Bonham’s trademark pounding rhythms and the signature Robert Plant vocals. As you experience immortal classics “Stairway to Heaven”, “Immigrant Song”, “Whole Lotta Love” “Rock ‘n’ Roll” and “Black Dog”, you’ll understand why Led Zepagain has become highly regarded as the most authentic representation of Led Zeppelin in the world today.

With well over a million downloads on iTunes to their credit, Led Zepagain’s popularity has also seeped into pop culture by having been mentioned on the network TV shows “The Gilmore Girls”, “Chicago Fire” and “Bad Judge”!

In January of 2004, Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page himself attended a Led Zepagain show at the House of Blues in Los Angeles. He was absolutely astonished at the band’s accuracy stating “It’s amazing how much you sound like us. You must have grown up on this because you were inside the music, and you paid attention to detail in your presentation…I can tell you guys really love our music!”

This encounter led to the members of Led Zepagain attending Led Zeppelin’s 2007 Reunion Concert at London’s O2 Arena by invitation of Mr. Page as well as a surprise visit from Jason Bonham in March of 2009 as he sat in with the band on their encore performance of the song “Rock and Roll”. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2w6noToYSqQ

Led Zepagain was honored to have been featured on AXS TV’s “World’s Greatest Tribute Bands” in 2014 and were asked to come back for an encore performance in March of 2017 to perform the iconic Led Zeppelin “lV” album in its entirety.

LED ZEPAGAIN regularly performs to packed houses all over the world. From the sound, the look, and the vintage equipment, Led Zepagain will be the closest thing that you will ever see to a live Led Zeppelin performance! Come on out and see what Jimmy Page was talking about.

For more about LED ZEPAGAIN please visit www.zepagain.com.
